What is the best way to sync a desktop computer and a laptop ?

What is the best solution to syncing two computers and assuring no data lost and can you always sync in one direction?

I am using Skydrive. Their free 7GB is enough for me. If you are using windows 7 they also have an app which enable you to sync a folder on your computer to that on the Cloud. Bonus with using the Cloud is you always have a back up. You can then of course access your folder on any computer. If you just want to network at home then Homegroup would suffice. More information in the question if this is not what you are looking for.

Sugarsync and Dropbox are also a good option. Jack wrote up an article on them in the past.
