How do I transfer new files from my old PC to the new?

Recommended Posts

What OS is your old computer running?

If it's running Windows 7 (Which is probably not what it's running) you can run "Windows Easy Transfer". Just Click the start menu and then type Windows Easy Transfer and it should popup in the search.

If your running something older than Windows 7, I would personally just go buy a USB stick or External hard Disk and plug it in via USB and copy over all the files that you want to save.

You will need to re-install all the apps but that is probably a good thing anyway. Take the opportunity to start fresh and re-install everything.

When you do that, be sure to use Nineite to do the installs - http://www.groovypost.com/howto/howto/install-update-programs-ninite-automatically/

I'm an old-school windows guy but I'm playing with a MAC at work (and typing on it now). Is there a simple way to take a screenshot kinda like the "PrintScreen" button on Windows? Trying to avoid buying Snagit on this MAC.
      Thanks

I have a HP-G72-B53 notebook with Window 7 Home Premium 64. I've known that redundancies exist in OEM notebooks, so I just want to make sure all these HP items are unnecessary:
HP Advisor, HP Power Manager HP Quick Launch HP Software Framework And,no I am not concerned with voiding warranties.

I believe that you are using Snag it for screen shots on your posts but is there any type of guide or educational resource (i.e. best practices, etc.) you would recommend for me to learn how to make mine as great as yours? :)Thanks!

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my computer. When I click on the Start Icon to search my computer for a specific item (Example: family birthday file) a complete listing of files relating to my search appears. After I select the file I am looking for only to find out it is not the correct one I attempt to return to the same list but it is no longer shown. I must retype my search item (Example: family birthday file) in the search field again to regain access to the file listings??? Is there a way to keep the original search data constant instead of having to start at step one every time to search for the same file??? This is such a waste of time. Yes I can cut and paste my original request so that I just paste each time I must continue with the same search for the correct file to show, but there must be a simpler way to save the original request until I no longer need it.Thank you for your helpKarl
