Microsoft outlook 2007 inbox problem

My inbox messages and sent item messages are both showing in the inbox. When I send any email from my gmail account, the same message is showing in the inbox in outlook account rather than showing it in the sent items in outlook. When I update my outlook account with gmail the whole sent item messages from gmail account comes in the inbox folder of outlook account. Please help me out.

There is a setting in Outlook to control where sent messages go...or there used to be (not sure about newer versions). Had to look it up but this should help:http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/change-where-sent-e-mail-messages-are-saved-HA010164216.aspx
