Mermaid55 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Have some old software that is 32bit need to get it to run on our 64bit Windows 7 home version computer, we get an error message regarding the 64bit issue when install Quote
Solution Simon H Posted November 9, 2012 Solution Report Posted November 9, 2012 This is what Microsoft say Most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs. Device drivers designed for the 32-bit version of Windows don't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you're trying to install a printer or other device that only has 32-bit drivers available, it won't work correctly on a 64-bit version of Windows. To learn how to check for drivers, see Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly or go to the device manufacturer's website. You can also get information about drivers by going to the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor webpage. pluto99_999 Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 I had the similar problem. I have a dos based program that works on 32 bit version of Windows (then 64 bit version didn't exist) and I don't know how to convert it to 64 bit so that it would work on the 64-bit version of windows. Thanks. Quote
Mermaid55 Posted November 9, 2012 Author Report Posted November 9, 2012 Have some old software that is 32bit need to get it to run on our 64bit Windows 7 home version computer, we get an error message regarding the 64bit issue when install Thanks for the help, we ended up loading XPMode and Microsoft virtual something that you need to load to be able to toggle from your XP desktop to your Windows 7 desktop. This software will not work for Windows Home (evidently), turns out the computer we needed to get the 32bit very old program to work on had the Professional version of Windows 7. The XPMode and Microsoft Virtual programs were free downloads. Quote
