I was at Bestbuy and shopping and a rep told me that on Mac I need more ram than on Windows. How does RAM work differently on Mac than it does on Windows? I'm not sure I get what is going on.

Actually nothing. RAM is universal these days. You just need to know the type that's in your system. Here's a couple of articles that will help you out that I wrote up:

How To Find the Correct RAM for Your Computer -- http://www.groovypost.com/howto/find-correct-ram-memory-type-mac-pc/

Then here I did a walk through of replacing RAM in a Mac Mini -- http://www.groovypost.com/howto/upgrade-ram-mac-mini/

PS...Don't believe anything those blue shirts at Best Buy say, they are clueless.
