Abby
I have a an Excel table with a high medium and low column. I want to sort items into high medium and low but the table sorts the words alphabetically so i get all the highs then the lows with the mediums at the bottom of the list. Is there a way to get excel to sort the column so the highs all come first followed by the mediums with the lows at the bottom of the list. Solution Simon H Posted February 21, 2012 Solution Report Share Posted February 21, 2012 Click on any cell within the table Click the” Data” Tab In the “Sort & filter” group click “Sort” This opens the sort dialog box Click the arrow on the “sort by” box on the left and choose the column name that you want to sort Click the arrow on the “Sort Order” box on the right and select “custom list” Click in the “List entries” box and type High, Medium, Low Click “Add” This adds “High, Medium, Low” to the “Custom lists” box on the left Select “High, Medium, Low” from the “Custom Lists” box Click “Ok” Click “OK” Your column will now be automatically sorted High Medium Low You can also use this technique to sort days of the week, months of the year or anything else you want.
