Guest Englisch101 Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 I have a question! When I login to windows it gives me a different background at the login screen then the one i have set for my background normally. Even the color is different, how do I fix it so my login screen has the same background? Quote
Austin Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 If you are using the Non-welcome XP login screen method then there is a set default background the Microsoft uses. I don't know why Microsoft decided to have a unique background for the login screen. I also don't know why Microsoft decided that putting in an easy way to change it wasn't necessary. To Add a Image to the Windows XP login Screen. 1. Click the Start menu, then Click Run. 2. Type in regedit and click ok. 3. Go to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP 4. Open the registry string "wallpaper" 5. Type in the full path of the .bmp image that you want to use as background. example: C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\Pictuers\background.bmp To change the color only Same steps as above, except in registry editor, go to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\CONTROL PANEL\COLORS - modify the string "background" - By default value it's 0 78 152, you can change this RGB code to whatever color you want. 0 0 0 = Black Quote

dw96 Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Had no idea this was possible, I need to figure out how to do this in Windows 7 now For Windows 7 you can use a few programs: [Free] Windows 7 Logon Background Changer [Paid] TuneUp Utilities's Feature to change the Logon Screen (From TuneUp, go to the "Customize Windows" section and choose "Logon Screen") Quote
