Guest Akela Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Thanks for the 32 bit/64 bit info in the post of 27th Dec. Never was really sure what I had installed. Now I know. So, now I know I have a 64 bit OS why do I have so many 32 bit processes showing up in my Task Manager/Process tab? Is there something not right with my install? Thanks for any guidance. Keep up the good work. Mike FARNBOROUGH UK. Quote
Beyond_Life Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Because there are programs that still run on 32 bit. Under 64 thats not a problem. Quote
Guest Akela Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Thanks, having read the Groovy post I was unclear. Now I think I am. Quote
Beyond_Life Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 the only difference you can see is that you will get two folders named "programs" and "Programs x86" Thats it. Quote
Vadim Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Thanks, having read the Groovy post I was unclear. Now I think I am. Yeah, unfortunately not all software dev's have their apps running in native 64-bit mode yet so Windows 7 (MAC does the same thing) will run the 32-bit apps in emulation mode basically things will still run. Like BL said above, that's why some stuff (most stuff today unfortunately) will be installed in the x86 program folders. Quote
