sending text to mobile phone using gmail

I have read your posting on how to send a text message to a mobile phone using gmail.

I live in Australia. Can I send a message to another phone in Australia?

If so do I need to add any numbers to the receiving phone number?

I use virginmobile as my carrier

In that case, all you need is the carrier address. You could try:

[yourcellphonenumber]@vmobl.com

but I'm not sure if that will work in Australia. Mabybe try

[yourcellphonenumber]@vmobl.com.au

 

These are just guesses though because I couldn't find it anywhere on Google, so it is possible that it isn't supported in Australia.
