Steve Krause Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Earlier in the year, the folks over at Automatic (creators of Wordpress) created a new URL shortening service for Wordpress.com users. Essentially, built into every post on the Wordpress.com hosted blogs would include a shorturl at wp.me Most of the discussion around the internet has been that the built-in URL shortening service is for wordpress.com hosted blogs only however Sunday I discovered that Wordpress MU version 2.8.6, ALSO includes the wp.me URL shortening service. Although it's not exposed in the Post EDIT page as shown above, it is available in the Page Source near the top of the page. It will look something like this: Although not as convenient YET, it's still readily available if you want to go grab the short-url and use the service instead of the typical bit.ly or is.gd services out there.
