AT&T to choke your iPhone - Death to unlimited data plans

Just 1 more reason to jump my iPhone...

Just when AT&T looks like they might actually launch a legal "tether", they go and start talking about something like this.

AT&T has finally figured out how to fix its much-maligned US mobile data services: stop users from eating up so frickin' much bandwidth.

As reported by the Associated Press, president and CEO of AT&T Mobility Ralph de la "Darth" Vega told attendees at a New York investors' conference on Wednesday that his company plans to force data-plan subscribers to "reduce or modify their usage."

In Darth's world, consumers are dumb and selfish data-piggies. "We've got to get them to understand what represents a megabyte of data," he said........

Did they just call their customers stupid?

The reason behind this is simple and a combination of two possible scenarios or both. AT&T realizes that a lot of users are trying to "cheat" by internet phone apps instead of paying for more minutes. This puts AT&T at a loss from their standpoint. This and with the current demand for the internet on smartphones to be as fast as home broadband, networks are still trying to keep up.
