Setting up a wireless network router

Hi all my friend gave me a D-Link router how would I go about setting it up.

Please explain it to me in a step by step way. I am kind of dumb when it comes to this stuff.

I assume you want to get it setup so you can share your internet connection? Is this a router in addition to the one that your internet connection is coming in on?

What model #? And does like shocker said, make sure that the modem your internet connection is coming in on isn't also a router. Routers aren't very friendly towards other routers.

It is a ZyXEL Modem. I have a normal router set up right now and it works good. The new router is a D-Link DI-614+. I don't know if that is good or bad but it was free.

My recommendation would be to just use the one you have and setup this new one as a spare wireless access point or THE wireless access point in your house if your existing router does not have wireless on it.
