shockersh Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Hello, Could you give me the instructions for Windows XP? The msconfig boot tab is different from the Vista one.. Thanks Now I don't have an XP machine that's running a dual boot but... Unlike Vista or Windows 7, you need to edit your BOOT.INI file in order to blow away the Windows 7 boot info from login. From XP Click Start, Run (Or click Windows Key + R) Now Type in notepad c:\boot.ini Notepad will open up. Delete the line under [Operating Systems] that references your Windows 7 Install. Be sure however BEFORE you do this that your Windows XP install is your Default partition. Here is mine for example: [boot loader] timeout=15 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /PAE /NoExecute=OptIn Make sure DEFAULT= points to your XP install otherwise when you reboot you going to have issues since you just deleted the line for windows 7 and that's your default Quote
