Steve Krause
Question from groovyReader For all of us non-IT people out there - I have Norton anti virus software but am unable to get rid of the Windows defender. Before I actually follow long the steps that were previously listed on the blog, will it screw up my current anti virus that I actually want to use instead of Windows Defender? Help from a non techie!!! Hi TazLady and welcome to the site. I assume your asking about this post for removing defender on vista? Either way, you should be fine disabling Windows Defender without impacting Norton. They are both completely separate so removing one will not impact the other. After reading your question you inspired me to write a more detailed review of Anti-Virus Vs. Anti-Spyware / Malware which you can find here. I hope this not only helps you keep your system secure but also explains a few differences between standard Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware apps. Hope this helps!
