I remember that if you wanted to grab text from an image, you needed Photoshop to do it. Or, maybe you would find an internet meme with a long quote or whatever, then put up two windows, one with the browser and one with Word or whatever.

Now, with an updated Snipping Tool, you can easily extract text from images on Windows 11 with a couple of clicks. What do you guys think of the feature?

It's not about the Windows 11 update like having 24H2, for example. It's about the version of the Snipping Tool you have installed. To get the OCR feature you need version 11.2308.33.0 or later. You can find your version by launching the Snipping Tool from the Start menu, go to Settings > About this app. In this example, it's version 11.2409.23.0, which is higher than the minimum version needed for the feature. If you don't have the updated version, you can update it from the Microsoft Store app.
