positron Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 My computer got invaded by a major company last sunday and now my Win 7 ultimate is all messed up. I have performed all kinds of tests, antiviral, frst.exe, frst.exe, malware anti, msconfig, regedit, repair disc etc etc, but nothing wrong is found. I have used system backups dating back to 2018 but the problems still exist. Just one example, I have to start in safe mode, then restart in order to get into normal windows. If I bypass Safe Mode, I see "Welcome" and icon, and then the screen goes black. I don't have an installation disc, hopefully not a dumb question, but can I format C drive and use a win 7 System Image to get windows 7 set back up again? Any help appreciated. pos Quote
Jeff Butts Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Positron, That might work, depending on how the system image was created. That's what Microsoft intended the feature for, anyway. Whether or not it will work in your instance falls under the category of "it can't hurt," I think. Quote
positron Posted September 13 Author Report Posted September 13 What I am worried about is if it does not work, I will have to get another computer I guess. I see I have a 100 meg partition but don't know what it does either. A system image should have that partition shouldn't it? Maybe I should attempt to perform a system image backup again. Last time I tried it a few weeks ago, using a 2018 image, it fixed nothing. I still had the same problems. Really weird. Thanks pos Quote
