Looking for iPhone app to search text in Excel document

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of an iPhone / iPad app that can search for specific text within an Excel document.

It needs to be an app that works offline.

I have seen loads that search for file names but they only view the Excel file they don't search within it.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have Dropbox and Sugarsync installed on my iPhone. Unfortunately they do well searching file names and folder names but neither look inside the file....

Hmm... I'll keep looking.

Yeah I've tried dozens of apps but not found any that search within the file.

Thanks for the help.

Ok @simon here ya go. Tested it and it works well. It's called Documents by Readdle. Installed it on my iphone, sync'd it with my Dropbox account. Clicked on Search then tapped "contents". It then asked me if I was sure because it would need to index the files. Once I said yes it ran through the files and I was able to search them.

Have fun. ;)

Thanks @AlexMVPthat's just what I was looking for and it works perfect for locally stored files as well.

Was beginning to think I was out off luck.

Thanks again.

@alexmvp nice find. Best part is it's free. Installed it myself. Wow, it's full of features.

Docs To Go will search once opened. Not sure what can be used externally on many files.

Regards, J

Thanks J, Documents by Readdle does all I need for now but I will keep this in mind.

Hey Mr Groove! Love the site and really enjoyed your last article!

I have an idea for a new article on groovypost for you! You need to write something on all the different search syntax that can be used in outlook 2007!

I only use a few of the features but would love to get the inside scoop.

I bought the first iPhone 3G eons ago and I've been buying apps for it since day 1. My wife bought an Android and I love it however before I make the plunge I want to see if there is anyway I can get my games installed on a droid from my iphone.
      Any hacks out there?

I made a terrible mistake and synced all my Gmail contacts to my iPhone so now there are hundreds of contacts of people I don't give a fig about and most of them are just email addresses. iPhone only lets you delete contacts one at a time PAIN IN THE BUTT and the way that I added them isn't synced thru Googl Exchange. Is there a way to remove multiple contacts? I don't have OS X.

I have roughly 300 pictures on my iPod, and another few hundred on my iPhone. Some of these are screen shots of bank receipts, and some are just pictures that I've already backed up to my computer.
How do I delete all of my photos/images at once? Like a bulk delete. I figure the process is the same on both the iPod, iPad, and iPhone... so someone has to know ow to do this.
Also, I don't want to lose any of my other data, just the photos.
