How to show RAW (.cr2) in Windows Explorer?

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a Canon 6D. And trust me, it rocks. But when I put the sd in my laptop, it shows only the .jpegs in a little preview, the raw files arent shown, other then the file name and a standard Windows Explorer picture.

How do I get Windows to show me also the RAW pictures without clicking to open them, and also without openening a third party program like Lightroom or photoshop?

Have you tried the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack, it supports loads of device formats including RAW (14Bit) files so it should work with your Canon files.

You can preview them in Windows Explorer and photo gallery.

I think this is what I was looking for! Thank you!

Ps. My Canon 6D is not listed in the row of camera's but im guessing it will be accepted, right?

Yes I noticed that the 6D wasn't listed but the 5D and 7D where, as far as I can tell the 5,6 & 7 all use RAW(14Bit) format so your files should be accepted. Perhaps the 6D isn't listed because its a fairly new camera anyway I hope its working ok. I use adobe bridge camera RAW to make non destructive edits on my RAW files so if you need any tips on those let me know.

Sorry to hear that, I never realised that camera manufactures changed the raw file compression so often. It looks like a lot of people are having difficulties with the 6D files due to the camera being relatively new.

When I looked into this further, Lightroom 4 and camera raw 7 were only updated in December 2012 to support the 6D files.

I don’t see any option but to wait until codecs are issued for windows, hopefully soon.

Additionally camera raw 7 only works with CS6 so 6D owners with CS5 will be disappointed.

I can't be alone out there but is there a way to permanently get rid of the annoying "Speed up browsing by disabling add-ons" message that appears at the bottom of IE9 everytime you launch?
      Thanks

Picnik will stop working on 19th of april. And I don't like that because I always use Picnik for inserting text for a signature. So when Picnik stops I want a replacement. And that is Photoshop Elements 10. I allready have that so why shouldnt I use it. I also use Machinery HDR2. But that program doesnt have the option to insert text for a sig.
If I search for my question on Google all I get are youtube movies about how to custum made a sig in a picture using the text symbol. But that means I have to do it every time over and over again.
Q: Is there a way to create a layer with my signature in it, that I can use with ever new picture, just by inserting that layer? So I don't have to remake my signature every time?

I have 8 pictures of my daughter running around the garden all taken from the same spot. I want to be able to open all 8 as layers and blend them together so that the picture shows 8 versions of her at different points in the garden. I have Photoshop CS5 full version.

I have Windows 8.1 and use office 2013 Outlook. My new Photoshop Elements 12 can't email my photos. It won't even send me a validation code or let me choose anything but adobe mail in the client list. I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop Elements 12, but still can't seem to find Outlook. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm working for a company that has me create newsletters for them to send out via e-mail. I make them in Photoshop in order to achieve a more professional look, because other programs just don't do it for me (and the company prefers my Photoshop style anyway).
In order to make the different sections of the JPEG newsletter clickable, I divide them into slices, using the slice tool and assign the various URLs to each one. Then I use the Export for Web option to have Photoshop cut the image up and give me an HTML page with the newsletter in its final form.
All seems well in the rendered HTML page, but if I try to copy that HTML code and embed it into an e-mail, I get tiny 1px white spaces (known as spacers) in between each slice. My boss says it's no big deal, but it annoys the HELL out of me. I tried to remove them using Adobe Dreamweaver to edit the code, but the whole newsletter displays incorrectly if they get removed.
Does anyone know how I can export the HTML WITHOUT the spacers?
