The 2022 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship is set to kick off Saturday in Las Vegas. The 13 best curling teams in the world will compete for the title.

Canada will be represented by Brad Gushue's team, which also consists of Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker. The team earned a trip to Vegas by winning the 2022 Tim Hortons Brier, taking down Kevin Koe and Team Alberta in the final.

Gushue's team was reduced to three members at the end of the Brier after Nichols tested positive for COVID. Now the four of them are in Vegas to try to earn Canada's first world title since 2017.

Niklas Edin and Sweden are the three-time defending champion of this tournament, going for the four-peat this season.

The 2022 tournament begins Saturday, April 2, and the final of the competition will be played Sunday, April 10, at 5 p.m. ET.

Round-robin play will run from April 2 through April 8. The qualification playoffs and semifinals will take place April 9, with the bronze- and gold-medal games taking place the following day.

The venue is home to the Vegas Rollers of World TeamTennis, a mixed-gender professional tennis league. It is also occasionally used by the UNLV basketball teams and is the temporary home of the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights, an affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. The hockey team is playing there while its new arena is being constructed in Henderson.

Despite coming off three consecutive tournament wins, Sweden is not the favorite to win the World Men's Curling Championship.

Instead, it's Canada getting the slight edge from the oddsmakers to win. Gushue's team enters as +120 favorites while Edin's club is +150, according to Sports Interaction.

It's a far drop-off after those two, with Norway coming with the third-highest odds at +800. Based on Sports Interaction, it appears as though it's going to be a two-horse race in 2022.

The Americans won their first two matches 8-2 against Denmark on Saturday but split their two matches on Sunday.

They beat the Czech Republic 7-5 in their first match and then were beat handily by Germany 8-3 in the nightcap.

The 2-1 start has put the Americans in a second-place tie with Finland, Germany, Italy and Norway. All five of the teams are chasing Canada, which has jumped out to a 4-0 start.

Monday the Americans will look to keep pace in the first of two matches when they play a Korea team that is 1-2 so far.

The Koreans lost on day one to Norway 7-3 and then split their two matches on Sunday.

They beat Scotland 9-6 in their first match and then lost a close one to Denmark 7-6. Korea scored two big points in the 10th end to tie the match but gave up the point in the extra end to take the loss.
