Tricky Facebook Question

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'll start with this - I have already started the process of total FB account deletion, and am within the 14 day waiting period before it happens for good. Here's the problem...I don't want to leave Facebook! ...and I know I could just wait the 14 days instead of the question below. The fact is - I want to delete my account completely because of someone in particular, and just feel it's better to start over instead of simple deactivation and coming back later - just to be rid of my person problems - that's what this is all about. That's the story, now THE QUESTION: If I go to the facebook.com site page and sign up to make an account (just as if this was my first time), and use a different email address - will this in any way 'disturb' or 'wake' my old account from it's 14 day period. I'm hoping it would remain undisturbed and continue it's 14 days WHILE I'm happily using my new account! ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS :)

@mekfour - So, you want to start a new account right? From what I know of the last time I deleted my account, I didn't try logging in again until the 14 days was up. I don't trust Facebook during that period. It can be too easy to accidentally enable the account you're cancelling.

Granted, this was just over a year ago. They might have changed their rules (which seem to change daily). My best advice would be to leave it alone until the 14 days is up.

But you might be able to if you're careful...hopefully someone else can offer more detail on this?

As long as you are using a different email address (and I'm assuming you will make some sort of change in your name so it is not easily connected by people who can come to your new page) It sucks that FB is trying to make everyone use their real names on there, but you can find a way to work around it - just don't try to have the first and last names be something they will "censor"

TECHNICALLY, if they were LOOKING, yes they could connect your new account to your old one be your ISP Number, but seriously - do you think FB checks this for every account created? No, they don't...... but can if it were necessary. (Tracing Pervs, Pedophiles, Stalkers etc) So unless you had trouble with your previous account and it is flagged, they will not be looking at your ISP and it is safe for you to create a new one.

All you need to do is open your browser and clear all cookies and temp files. From there you can goto Facebook and create a new login without issues.

Be sure to use a new email and you are done.

Just remember 1 thing. Facebook will send you emails from your old account telling you to come back to the account being deleted. Be sure not to open those emails by accident.

Thanks for your help everyone! The ISP should be no problem I think cause several people in one household may have each their own FB pages. I'll keep an eye out also for those emails. Thanks to all again!

Why bother deleting your account altogether? You can simply block said person from viewing your account.

How do I permanently delete a page and have it take effect immediately...without having to wait 14 days for it to take effect?

      Hello,
I used one of your How To tutorials to link my google+ page with my Facebook and twitter pages, and it's working great!
I am having one small problem though - when I post something through google+ and it appears on Facebook, the picture associated with the post isn't my profile picture from either Facebook or Google+. It's a picture of a website logo: active.com.
I have used active to sign up for cross county running races before, but I don't know why it would be the picture that pulls up when I am posting stuff. It only appears when I check my status updates from my phone. When I log into a computer, the picture shows up correctly.
Because this is such a specific question, I couldn't find any help topics on it and I'm hoping you can help me!
      Thanks
