Access USB drive connected router ZTE H168N

Recommended Posts

I have a ZTE Router H168N . I connected a Disk /pen drive to it's USB port

I have a Mac , When I tried to connect to it GO Connect to server smb://192.168.1.1 I obtained an error message Problem connecting to server 192.168.1.

If I use ftp://192.168.1.1 I connected as read to the disk/pendrive

a) somebody told me that I should enable SAMBA in the router , I didn't find that option b) somebody told me that I should enable file sharing . I cannot find this option

PD the router specifications said ; Its USB port can be connected with USB HDD Flash Disk or printers to act as file server and print server so that it can easily support configuration backup and restore file sharing and network shared printing.

Please HELP

I don't have that specific router but my ASUS does something very similar. For me however, it just works. The GUI walks me through the process on the ASUS router...

Have you tried any support from ZTE?

I have the same issue with a ZTE ZXHN H298N router. I can successfully connect a USB stick or drive in the USB port using Ftp://192.168.1.254 but get read only access.

Like yourself I don't have the SAMBA option in my router, it doesn't connect using SMB and I can't find any option to enable file sharing.

Did you manage to resolve your problem if so I would be interested to hear what you did.

I have tried ZTE support in the US but they don't handle this product, also tried the UK but got routed to their India call centre and was told to contact ZTE in China. I even registered on ZTE's support website in China and got access but no permissions to access any thing and even a search on their site against ZXHN H298N came up with nothing. Can anybody help!

Hi Chevron,

Yeah I don't have one of those myself. I have an ASUS Wireless Router (and love it)..... Sorry I don't have more info.

Have you tried to FLASH the bios on the router? Perhaps it just needs an update.
