OK ... Thanks for the info.

    Battlefield Play4Free

Yeah ... BP4F is the one that I checked the system requirements for. Positive. However, I don't recall the name of the website in which I checked my laptop's capabilities upon ... seemed thorough enough (i.e. amount of RAM, type of processor, sound / vid capabilities, etc.). I take it that since the BP4F game is so visually demanding (at least from what I viewed on the YouTube link that you provided), that having a top-of-the-line gaming system would be the best (if not only) way in which to enjoy the BP4F's video / audio offerings. Ah well.

    I want this for xmas

While you fellow groovyPosters are pining for inkless pens, I've decided on what I'd like for Christmas. Please direct the stunningly beautiful Miss Keira Knightley to my abode. Thanks.

    Battlefield Play4Free

No problem. I did do a system requirements test for Battlefield Play4Free via a website that lists the requirements for a broad spectrum of online / hardcopy video games, and sadly, it appears that my laptop is unable to meet the requirements of playing BP4F. Bummer.

    Battlefield Play4Free

Hey there Beyond_Life, So how does one go about playing this FPS game? I take it that it is *free* to play online? Yes / No? Do I need a joystick to play, or can I just get by with a keyboard and a mouse combo? Will this run on Microsoft Vista, or is it geared for Windows 7? Thanks man. trollcrusher

Retail Deals On "BLACK FRIDAY" (11/26/2010)?

Laugh you say? These guys were only blocking the Xbox / PlayStation isle on Black Friday. Shoulda seen the rest of the store ... amoured personnel carriers in the hunting / fishing department. H-60G Pave Hawk helicopters covering the parking lot situation. Tear gas cannons in housewears. Muzzled riot K-9's in the women's undergarments section. And last but not least, a freakin' ICBM nuclear missle in the Barbie toys aisle. (I sh*t you not). And that was just at Wal-Mart.
  9. Fellow groovyPost users ... I was just curious as to if anyone out there in cyberspace / here on groovyPost has heard of any good electronic deals scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving (known as "Black Friday" due to the large revenue generated on that day - enough to push struggling retailers "out of the red and into the black" so-to-speak). I am keeping my eyes and ears open for the once a year major markdowns of laptops in some of the "Big Box" stores (i.e. "Best Buy" / Wal-Mart / etc.) and was wondering if any of you have an inside scoop on what particular models will be significantly reduced, and if so, by how much. I need info on brands, etc. I figured that some of you (or people you may know) work at said "Big Box" retailers and wouldn't mind sharing your insider info with the rest of us ... hopefully, by doing so, it'll be a "Win - Win" situation. A win for the consumer and a win for the retailer in these threadbare economic times. Thanks again everyone. I look forward to reading your responses. Best wishes, trollcrusher

Beyond_Life ... Heh heh. Smart move by the Russians. Simple but effective solution. I just wonder what they did with the wood shavings when they went to sharpen the lead?

Hey that Vat19 site has some interesting stuff on it. The inkless pen is a unique concept, however, the "ink" appears to be slightly faint. Would be curious if they were to make it appear darker on whatever surface it is applied to. Sort of reminds me of a Fisher Space Pen ... the type that NASA uses on its Shuttle missions.
  12. Good deal ... Be sure to check out the infrared / near infrared 360 views as well. In addition, some of the Asian locations are pretty cool. The infrared filter adds sort of an otherworldly effect to the various scenes. Glad you enjoyed.
  13. Hey there fellow groovyPosters ... Just thought that I'd pass along an interesting website that has been in my Firefox bookmarks for awhile now. After viewing the following thread here on groovyPost by fellow member "Animis" entitled "Great site for geography Techs" (link here: http://www.groovypost.com/forum/hardware-software/great-site-for-geography-techs-t95719.html ), I was inclined to contribute another thread that dovetails with Animis' thread topic. I figured that there may be others out there in cyberspace / groovyPost who may enjoy viewing interactive 360 degree panoramic photography from around the world. Apparently, the site I am recommending has been so well received, that it is now the default choice in the "Photos" layer of Google Earth (along with images via the "Panoramio" website here at http://www.panoramio.com/ ). The site is known as 360cities.net and has some breathtakingly high-rez images of both popular and off-the-beaten-path locations from around the world. Some images even allow the viewer to interact within them via small directional arrows placed throughout the 360 degree view. By clicking on an interactive arrow symbol, the viewer is taken further into the picture and shown a location that is related to the original location. (Be it an unusual landmark, structure, statue, etc.) It is akin to a virtual trek across distances both near and far without ever having to leave the comfort of your position behind the keyboard. The link for the 360cities.net site can be accessed here: http://www.360cities.net/ And on a final note, be sure to check out the incredible use of both "infrared" and "near-infrared" images in a 360 degree format on the site as well. Simply stunning. http://www.360cities.net/search/infrared Take care everyone and do enjoy. trollcrusher
  14. Beyond_Life, Make sure that you have the newest edition of Adobe Flash installed. If not, refer to the link below and select "DOWNLOAD FLASH PLAYER" (located at the far right side of the page). http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ If you do have Flash already, make sure that it is enabled. If not, then refer to the Google Search link results for "How to enable Flash" at the link below: http://www.google.com/search?q=How+to+enable+Flash&hl=en&rlz=1B3GPMD_enUS301US303&num=10&lr=&ft=i&cr=&safe=images&num=100 Hope this helped.

How To Know When You Can Trust A Guy With A Beard

MrGroove wrote: "Mr Clean??? Is that you!" Noooooo. But this Mr./Ms. Clean *might* suffice: Figured that the craziest thing I could come up with would be a spin-off of Mr. Clean, albeit Britney Spears' meltdown version, complete with (in maintaining the theme of this thread) a John Waters / Joe Jackson / Little Richard "you-know-you-just-wanna-reach-out-and-touch-it" kinda 'stache (added by moi). Sort of a visual overload. Heh.
  17. Very cool site recommendation, Animis. Very cool indeed.

How To Know When You Can Trust A Guy With A Beard

No ... "No touchy!" / "Не обидчивый!" The Soviet hinterland's version of the iconic "Mr. Clean" tended to be not so concerned with cleaning up your kitchen messes, per se, but pummeling said messes into borscht and then injecting it into each of his ever expanding biceps that curiously began to mimic the shape and texture of his shaven pate. CAPTION THIS PIC: "Oh how Ivan secretly longed to transform himself into the hero of his youth, not Lenin, nor Stalin, nor even "Sweatin' To The Oldies" excercise guru Richard Simmons, but ... POPEYE!"

How To Know When You Can Trust A Guy With A Beard

Oh, almost forgot ... Who could forget another pencil thin lip 'stache worn by none other than by Little Richard himself: Appears that he may have borrowed it from Jackson 5 patriarch, Joe Jackson.

    Favorite Flash Games

Anyone know where I can find a good (i.e. "free") downloadable copy of the classic video game "Joust" / "Joust 2" and "Dig-Dug"? JOUST: DIG-DUG: I am not really a wiz when it comes to the whole "MAME" thing and sort of just want to download, open the file, install the game, play the game whenever I want to, type of video game. Not sure even about which emulator to use and how it all seems to fit together. Kind of a bit complicated for me. I figured that there would be some users here who might be able to explain how to get the best out of the MAME experience, in down to earth terms (with pics possibly), so that an old Atari 2600 era fan might be able to relive some of his coin operated arcade days. And feedback would be appreciated. Thanks everyone. Best wishes, trollcrusher

    Great Old Shots

Hey man, thanks for posting this link. I thoroughly enjoyed viewing these classic images from an era long gone by. Would love to have some of the advertisement signs as shown in picture #41 (i.e. "Grape Nehi", "Royal Crown", etc.). Sadly, I feel as though this was the "Golden Age" of the U.S.A. with regard to this country's pride, moral faith, economic drive (even though it was gearing up for possible inclusion in WWII prior to Pearl Harbor), and serving as the world's touchstone for the Democratic ideal. Some true "salt-of-the-earth" people depicted in those images. trollcrusher

The Glass Is Always Completely Full

Hey there Alexa ... Thought that you'd be interested in the following spin on the "glass half-full / half-empty" observation and how it supposedly reveals either your innate optimist, or your innate pessimist. Some of us are neither as shown below: Full view of the glass at the following link: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/demotivators/pointsofviewglass1010.jpg I kind of lean toward the "Pragmatist" label myself. You can find more pessimist / demotivator related items at the link below: http://www.despair.com/pessimistsmug.html Take care and do enjoy! Peace, trollcrusher

Retail Deals On "BLACK FRIDAY" (11/26/2010)?

Apparently, Wal-Mart, Inc. has decided to employ the friendly modern day knights in Kevlar armor (shown below waiting to *assist* patrons) as its Black Friday crowd control measure. Bring a sack or two of donuts as "bribes".
