  7. I am in need of advice! So with all the Tech knowledge floating around here I assume I've come to the right place. I'm in the market to buy a laptop. I am somewhat of a computer geek, however I have never "gone mobile" before and do not know what to look for in these types of systems. Also, Black Friday is approaching so I am hoping to take advantage of some of those deals. So I'm up for any reccomendations anyone might have. I don't need to run games, or 3d cgi publishing type stuff. I just need to run say Live Writer, Adobe Master Suite (photoshop, dreamweaver, contribute etc..) Virtual PC would be a plus, and probably some high-def movies every once in a while. I'm also trying to stay cheap, I dont NEED a laptop, so under $450 is my range, with a goal of around $325ish. Thanks for the help!
  8. Okay, so I did it the lazy way and it seems to have worked. Hooray! Thanks so much, I now have an internet connection, just finished downloading all the new security updates.
  9. I have to agree with you, the built in ftp explorer sucks! I used to use WS_Ftp pro and it works well. Though it is kind of overkill for home use... So, Recently I switched to the open-source Filezilla and have been quite happy. So I'd say go with the freebie cause it works just as good for what your doing and you could probably use the extra $$ you'll save for other school "supplies."
  10. Yeah there is no need to install SP2 since it is included with SP3. Always keep up to date with all Windows and Security updates otherwise you WILL download a virus just by surfing the net.
  11. Yeah this is a copied guest box. This is what happens when I try to remove the drivers in XP. I'm not on the administrator acount but I am on another account that has administrator privileges. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network driver and it tries to aquire an IP but continuously stays at In settings I used both NAT and the actual name of my external device. This is a screen of the settings tab in Virtual 2007
  12. Hi there groovemaster, I've been having some trouble connecting my Virtual PC 2007 to the internet. I'm running both Windows XP and Windows Vista virtually, and my host box is running Windows XP. I'm using a wireless usb card [netgear wg111v2] to connect to my router. I even installed the Virtual Machine Network Services driver on my card. I've tried using the Shared Networking [NAT] setting and using the physical drive setting also. Nothing seems to work. The closest I've been able to get with the connection is it told me I had conflicting IP addresses, but I'm not even sure how I got it say that much. Do I have to install wireless drivers onto virtual pc? If so how do I do that? Thanks!
