(192.168.1.2) is managing this device
Rufio posted a topic in General Geek Questions (HW, SW, Etc..)
When I try to login to my router at 192.168.1.1 it accepts my username and password but just displays the message " (192.168.1.2) is managing this device " with a blank white screen, nothing else is visible. Is there anyway to fix this? I can't access my router control panel because of this. -
Is it possible to set a color to show up every time I load Microsoft Word? Is this possible in the new Office 2013? This is for my company colors. For example, I have this color set and it shows up in Recent colors, but that clears out when I restart the PC. Is there a way to make it permanently show up on the pallete rather than having to retype in the color code for it every time.

Good question jshepp! There's a few things to consider that could be causing lag (latency and/or packetloss) on your network. The first thing I always look at is the Internet Service Provider (ISP) speed. Are you on Comcast or Verizon? Or do you have DSL / Satellite / Radio internet? Whichever company is providing you internet service should have you signed up for a specific speed. GD wrote a really informative article regarding testing your internet connection speed here: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/geek-stuff/understand-your-interent-connection-test-its-speed/. Your opinion on XBOX 360 vs PlayStation 3 vs Wii?
Rufio replied to dw96's topic in Everything Geek Q&A
Build a gaming PC. It's a little bit more expensive, but it's worth it. Here's what you buy: $450 - Motherboard and CPU combo. I7-2600K (k edition) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.989278 $330 - Radeon 7950 Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127667 $50 - Case. Can also re-use an old one to save money. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 $114 - 16GB of DDR3 Ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231568 $90 - 750watt power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item= -
Looking for a Role based or Multi-User Unique password manager
Rufio replied to epirian's topic in Everything Geek Q&A
Sowsoft has an enterprise program called Network Password Manager that does exactly this. However it isn't free. You're looking at $249 for 1 server/5 users. Have you tried KeepassX? Or Keepass2? I think they may be able to do this with a bit of tweaking. Another option is to use a portable password manager like Keepass and store it on an encrypted drive that only you have the encryption key to. Truecrypt would work for this. -
This could end up being complicated process. You may have to work with building management to install a new door code system. Then again, it could be as simple as picking up a device for about $80. You might be able to get by using a Bluetooth phone gateway like this one:http://www.amazon.com/Xtreme-Technologies-BT-Bluetooth-Gateway/dp/B00135XU7Q Of course there may be a WiFi alternative or something else. If I understand correctly you're just trying to take a signal coming into your landline and convert it to a digital signal going to your iPhone? In that case another good option is getti

I like this solution, it's about the only way to do it that doesn't involve messing with individual computers. -
View history of websites visited over a wireless connection
Rufio replied to Michelle Edighoffer's topic in Internet Browsers
Hi Michelle, The User Manual for the Motorola SBG900 can be found here. I looked through it appears that the only logs it is capable of recording are those of firewall events. Those are explained on page 33, but I don't think those are necessarily the droids you are looking for. Sorry! I looked at options for adding open source firmware to the router and enhancing it's features, but it is no dice. The router is just too old. You'll have to upgrade! The other option for logging sites is to install Windows Family Safety on individual computers in the network. It is available as part of the W -

The new Office 2013 pure white background is too white. It burns my eyes. I have to turn my screen brightness down just to keep from getting a headache. Any fix for this or do we have to wait for retail?

Keeping homeland location while traveling

great solution! -
I hear that one easy way to automatically delete your Facebook photo is to upload pornography as your main profile pic. Not the most ethical way to do it, but Facebook will delete your account for you. Just make sure to clear out all of your personal information manually before you do it.

When I clicked the install button on the website to install Office 2013 it downloaded an installer. When I run the installer it gives me an error that says: We found a problem! We're sorry, Office (32-bit) couldn't be installed because you have these 64-bit Office programs installed on your computer: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Microsoft Office 32-bit Components 2010 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office programs don't get a long, so you can only have one type installed at a time. Please try installing the 64-bit version of Office instead, or uninstall your other 64-bit Office

Yes you can! There's 2 ways to go about it. The first way is Amazon's lending library. Login to your Amazon account and then you can "lend" out purchased books to another person. The borrowing period lasts 2 weeks, and during this time you will be unable to read the book until your friend returns it. The other way is the way Amazon doesn't like. Connect your Kindle to the computer via USB and extract the book files and save them to the computer. You may have to use a program like Calibre to convert them to epub so that they are not locked to your specific Kindle.

Can I retrieve deleted emails from Outlook 2010
Rufio replied to Heinrich Klinge's topic in Microsoft Office
You're in luck. Files deleted are still recoverable unless you pressed Shift+Delete (the permanent delete shortcut) to remove them. The easiest way is to download the Microsoft Fix It tool, which automates the process of recovery. If you want to manually recover the emails launch the Recover Deleted Emails tool from the Tools menu. -
Unblocking publishers in Windows is strange, it goes through IE: 1.Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet options. 2.On the Content tab, in the Certificates section, click Certificates. 3.Select the Untrusted Publisher tab. 4.Select the Publisher you wish to unblock and click the Remove button. Now if the above doesn’t help try restting your internet explorer browser, if that is the browser with which you are having trouble accessing shockwave games. Note: Resetting Internet Explorer's settings is not reversible. After a reset, all previous settings are l
